The latest premium notes... Maryland was a frequent mention among targets at the UA Camp in Baltimore on Sunday. Four-star safety Faheem Delane will kick off his round of June visits with an official visit to Maryland as the Terps work to disrupt the leaderboard and dethrone the Buckeyes, while SFA DB Blake Woodby is remaining patient with the process with an expected decision to come during his senior season. Zymear Smith is expected to see his recruitment continue to battle through the fall with Penn State ramping up interest while Smith is in line for multiple unofficials in June, but the Terps have remained a prime player in his recruitment with some close to Smith preferring Maryland over the field. The steady confidence in Maryland's chances with Tariq Hayer through the spring extends into June as the Terps look to close with Cincinnati and Rutgers shaping up to be the top competition with Michigan--who hasn't extended an offer--a wildcard heading into June. The same could be said for four-star DT Bryce Jenkins with Maryland ahead of Tennessee with Rutgers and South Carolina involved and Colorado lurking. The Buffs were slated to host Jenkins in late April, but finalized plans never materialized as he looks to June to make his way west. While top tight end target JT Taggart was sporting Maryland gloves ahead of his June 7 official visit, a pair of teammates will make their way to campus the following weekend as twin brothers--defensive lineman Asaiah Hamond and athlete Alijah Hamond--are set to officially visit the weekend of June 14. The duo picked up offers during an unofficial visit alongside Taggart back in mid-March with offensive line coach Brian Braswell leading the charge as Maryland enters June with a chance to close on both. It's a true battle between Maryland and Virginia Tech for Noah Chambers and while the length of the Hokies' pursuit does carry weight for him, Maryland's continued all-out pursuit has made them a close competitor with cautious optimism surrounding the Terps' chances heading into June. While four-star Jayvon McFadden is a candidate to officially visit Maryland the final weekend of June, I'm not holding my breath on the Terps' chances with Colorado still driving the bulk of the buzz in his recruitment. Maryland has also been working to secure an official visit from explosive McDonogh (MD) athlete Brandon Finney, but interest has faded from Finney through the spring with the Terps on the outside-looking-in. One target who drew headlines on Monday was Quince Orchard (MD) four-star RB Iverson Howard, who initially announced plans to commit on Friday before later backing off those plans. I'm told that those plans to make a decision were premature and he's still looking to follow through on his official visits, but all eyes are on his first visit with Michigan catching his eye since their spring game. Florida State will be up next before Maryland wraps up the month with steady confidence in the Terps' chances, but all eyes will be on Howard after his Michigan trip as the Wolverines' staff looks to cut his visit tour short. On the roster side, I'm expecting to see former Buffalo OL Isaiah Wright announced by the program this week and I've heard that he's already signed his tender and been admitted into the school, so no issues at all there. That'll be it from a scholarship perspective, while former Oklahoma kicker Gavin Marshall continues to draw buzz as a potential walk-on candidate to add to the special teams room. Beyond that, Maryland's roster for the 2024 season is set. While the bulk of the 2024 signees are set to enroll on June 15, Maryland will have one make his way to campus this upcoming weekend as St. Frances (MD) CB "Kerm" Humes told IBG at Sunday's UA camp he will move onto campus next week. After making the decision to reclassify up, Humes is one of two signees approved to enroll early as he gets a chance to step into immediate playing time as a nickel. Humes and Terez Davis--who I could see get snaps at center--are the two who come up most frequently when asking around about potential early contributors. Related Links
