Details for Maryland's Sweet 16 matchup are now finalized with Maryland vs. Florida set to tipoff at 7:39 PM ET on either TBS or TruTV. Kevin Harlan, Dan Bonner, Stan Van Gundy and Lauren Shehadi will be on the call.
Maryland opened as a 6.5-point underdog, per DraftKings, with the over/under opening at 154.5.
This marks Maryland’s first Sweet 16 appearance since 2016 and third since the national championship season in 2002. This also marks Florida's first Sweet 16 appearance since 2017 and seventh since their 2005 national championship.
Head coaches Kevin Willard and Todd Golden are also both set to make their first Sweet 16 appearance in their careers, giving Willard another $75,000 bonus per the terms of his original contract.
Maryland and Florida have split their four all-time matchups with the most recent back on Dec. 12, 2021 when the Terps secured an 80-78 win in Brooklyn under interim head coach Danny Manning. Maryland also won back on Dec. 10, 2003 after taking down then-top-ranked Florida, 69-68, in overtime to halt the Gators’ 41-game nonconference win streak while giving Gary Williams his 300th career win as Maryland’s head coach.
After blowing out Norfolk State by 26 points in the opening round, the Gators surged in the closing minutes of the second half to outlast eight-seed UConn, 77-75, in the Round of 32 on Sunday.
Maryland, meanwhile, is coming off a buzzer-beating win to down Colorado State, 72-71, to advance to their first Sweet 16 since 2016.
