TV, kickoff times announced for select Maryland football games in 2024

Details of Maryland football's 2024 schedule were announced on Thursday afternoon with a noon kickoff to open the 2024 season. Maryland's season opener vs. UConn is set to kickoff at noon on FS1 on August 31 as the Terps look to remain undefeated in non-conference play under head coach Mike Locksley. Maryland's conference opener vs. Michigan State on Sept. 7 will kickoff at 3:30 PM on BTN, while the Friday night matchup against Northwestern was previously announced with kickoff set for 8 PM on FOX. Maryland also announced its Oct. 19 matchup vs. USC will serve as this year's homecoming with kickoff time still subject to change. While this marks the first Big Ten matchup between the two cross-country teams, Maryland will also serve as a homecoming opponent for another team. Maryland's road game vs. Minnesota on Oct. 26 has been announced as the Gophers' homecoming game with kickoff time still subject to change. After defeating Virginia in College Park in 2023, Maryland returns the favor in 2024 as they head to Charlottesville for an 8 PM matchup on the ACC Network. This marks the first road game of the season for Maryland, while it will be the 79th all-time matchup between the two regional schools as Maryland holds a 45-32-2 series lead. This year also marks the first year that the Big Ten Football Championship Game will be played on CBS, as the network will present the first-ever matchup between No. 1 and No. 2 in the conference standings live from Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis at 8 pm ET on Saturday, Dec. 7. Maryland is coming off a 2023 season in which it posted an 8-5 record and defeated Auburn, 31-13, in the TransPerfect Music City Bowl. The Terps, who have won bowl games in three straight seasons for the first time in school history, have the fifth most wins amongst all Big Ten teams (16) over the last two seasons. Maryland returns four starters on the offensive side of the ball in 2024, including All-Big Ten selections in running back Roman Hemby and wide receivers Tai Felton and Kaden Prather. The high-powered Terrapins offense ranked Top 5 in the Big Ten in points per game (29.7), yards per game (387.3) and passing yards per game (278.9) last season. Seven starters return for Maryland's defense, which allowed just 22.5 points per game in 2023, the fewest points allowed per game for a Terps defense since 2010 (22.2). Returners include Third-Team All-Big Ten selection Ruben Hyppolite II and Honorable Mention All-Big Ten selection Quashon Fuller.
