Maryland has already picked up a pair of commitments this week in offensive lineman Donovan Thompson and cornerback Larry Tarver as the staff looks for more good news starting on Friday. Archbishop Spalding (MD) three-star linebacker Keyshawn Flowers is set to announce his decision on Friday at 3 PM. The 6-foot-2, 215-pound linebacker kicked off the month with an official visit to Miami (FL) the weekend of June 9 with the ‘Canes in hot pursuit, but Flowers came out of the weekend still uncommitted. Notre Dame was second to host Flowers the weekend of June 16 after the Irish made their way through the MIAA powerhouse in the spring, while Maryland was the last school to host Flowers and his family this past weekend before setting an imminent decision. Defensive coordinator Brian Williams has led the way with Flowers while inside linebacker coach Lance Thompson has chipped in as the secondary recruiter. “It’s close to home, to my family. I like the Big Ten, it’s a competitive conference. I think they play good football and they are building something,” Flowers said last month. Maryland already has a pair of inside linebackers committed with Justin Okoronkwo and Keyari James in the fold, but Flowers would give the future Terps’ inside linebacker room a lean yet instinctive linebacker who flashed across Spalding’s front seven last year. In his first full season as a key contributor for a Spalding team that finished 11-1, Flowers posted 81 tackles, 11 tackles for loss and five sacks as a junior. It won’t be long before the Terps' learn its fate on another local target with Flowers (MD) three-star cornerback Lloyd Irvin set to announce at noon on Saturday between Maryland and Wisconsin. Flowers is rated a three-star prospect and an 89 overall by On3, sitting as the 14th-best prospect in Maryland. Related Links
