Top-50 Billy White III sets official visit to Maryland

Official visits have already kicked off for Maryland men’s basketball and head coach Buzz Williams as Lufkin (TX) three-star Austin Brown arrived in College Park for his first visit beginning Monday, June 23. While several more 2026 targets are expected to finalize visit dates through the summer, Maryland will get another Texas forward on campus once students return to campus in the fall.

Veterans Memorial (TX) four-star forward Billy White III has scheduled an official visit to Maryland beginning Oct. 18, he confirmed to IBG, with assistant Steve Roccaforte leading the way alongside Buzz Williams.

Maryland becomes the latest addition to the official visit list with trips to SMU beginning Sept. 6, Oklahoma beginning Sept. 20, Oklahoma State beginning Sept. 28, TCU beginning Oct. 4 and LSU beginning Oct. 11 also locked in. White previously said Texas, Maryland, LSU, Stanford and Kentucky were the schools in heavy contact.

White’s familiarity with the current Maryland staff dates back to their time at Texas A&M where the then-in-state target made his way to College Station for an official visit, but after the coaching transition, it didn’t take long until the top-100 prospect picked up an offer from the staff once they settled in College Park.

"A big thing for me is just relationships, mainly with the coaches. On the court, making sure I fit into a system where they're going to allow me to play my game and not change what I do," White said in the spring.

White has averaged 14.2 points on 37.5% shooting from three point in eight games with ASAK, notching a pair of 20-point performances and double-doubles along the way. Maryland was also in attendance to watch the four-star sharpshooter at the TABC Showcase last weekend, while the staff also had a presence at DMV Live at nearby DeMatha.

“I’m an elite-level shot maker and shooter,” White told Zagsblog. “That’s a big reason I get recruited. I rebound really well and I can defend my position, as well as multiple positions. I think I’m really translatable to the next level. That’s why I get recruited so highly.”
