St. Frances (Md.) three-star DB Hakim Satterwhite has known for months that Maryland will be where he would spend his college ball, and hours after his official visit wrapped up, the local defensive back went public with his pledge.
“I’ve been going there a lot. If you follow my cycle, that’s the school I’ve visited the most because they’re close to home,” Satterwhite told IBG.
Satterwhite, a 6-foot-1, 175-pound cornerback, committed to Maryland over Syracuse with West Virginia among other schools involved through the spring, but the relationship between Satterwhite and the Terps’ roster carried weight throughout his recruitment.
“That was the main reason. That was the entry level because Shamar McIntosh, Braydon Lee. I knew them before Maryland. And for them, going there at the same time and all the SFA guys, growing up those were my guys. Just over time, hanging out at Maryland and seeing them, it’s like dang I really know a lot of people up there. Malik Washington, Sidney Stewart comes to my house. Sid is a really close friend of mine. Grew up playing basketball with Malik. I already know half the team already. Jahmari [Powell-Wonson], those are my guys.”
Satterwhite spent his weekend with the bulk of the roster with DB Shamar McIntosh as his host, along with getting ample time with head coach Mike Locksley on the visit.
“That’s probably the most time I’ve spent one-on-one with Locks, so it was just good being with everybody,” he added.
Satterwhite becomes the fourth pledge out of St. Frances (Md.), joining five-star Zion Elee, TE Damon Hall and SAF Khmari Bing.
“We’ve got a lot of guys,” he added.
“I always mess with Maryland and the coaches. We’re trying to build in the ’26 class, the ‘25s are good. They have a lot of pieces in there. And we’ve got a lot of pieces in there. We’ve got a lot of ball players and I think we’re going to be one of those teams in the Big Ten. My sophomore year, I see us being one of the best in the Big Ten.”
Hakim Satterwhite is rated a three-star and 87 overall by On3.
