Three charges dismissed for Maryland football WR Josiah Teasley

Maryland football approached the 2026 regular season with a pair of players battling legal matters, yet freshman wide receiver Josiah Teasley saw his case progress following Friday morning’s hearing.

Teasley saw his three misdemeanor charges dismissed by a district judge in Montgomery County, including charges of distributing sexual images. Teasley faced new charges eight days after he was sentenced to 18 months of supervised probation as the wide receiver was accused of breaking a protective order and harassing his ex-girlfriend, according to court records. He was also previously found guilty of misdemeanor second-degree assault that he is currently appealing with a trial scheduled for March 2027.

Douglas Gansler, who also represented cornerback Dontay Joyner earlier this offseason, also represented Teasley in his second case. Teasley remained with the program following news of his arrest was made public before Maryland finalized his status the day prior to the regular season opener.

“He's been disciplined within our program, like it typically happens. But because it's a legal matter, I'll end it with that,” Locksley said when asked about Teasley while noting the program has “been aware of the situation.”

Heading into the weekend, Teasley’s status with the program remains unchanged while Thursday’s updated availability report released by the conference ruled the freshman among the double digit players who are sidelined.

Maryland will open Big Ten play on Saturday vs. UCLA with kickoff set for 1:30 PM on BTN.
