The list: familiar flip targets headline visitors for Maryland vs. Penn State

Maryland will look to pull off the upset against ninth-ranked Penn State this weekend and they’ll do so with a long list of visitors along the sidelines, including two of the Terps’ top flip targets. Remember the positive vibes coming out of Norland (FL) earlier in the week? There’s a reason for that as both Jeremiah Marcelin and Larry Tarver return to campus this weekend. I wouldn’t expect Marcelin to make a public decision this weekend, but I still love where the Terps stand heading into November, while I like the Terps to hang onto Tarver over Nebraska heading into November. DC Brian Williams looms large with both as he and ILB coach Lance Thompson watched the Norland duo during the bye week. You’d be hard pressed to find a coach familiar with LT who doesn’t rave about his coaching ability, while the presence of Brian Williams looms large in this recruitment. Marcelin won’t be the only flip target on campus. Weeks after South Carolina hosted four-star Braydon Lee for a midseason unofficial visit, Maryland will now get the priority local target back on campus for the third time this season with the Terps still very much alive. The relationship between Lee and CB coach Henry Baker is the driver, having teammate CB Lloyd Irvin in the fold is an asset, while the connection between Lee and head coach Mike Locksley is the cherry on top. Add in Lee becoming increasingly receptive to staying local and the Terps remain a viable contender with an official visit left to use heading into signing day. Spalding (MD) four-star quarterback Malik Washington will be back in College Park, as expected, with the Terps making a strong push through the fall that his camp has definitely noticed. 2025 ATH Jayden Shipps and ’24 WR RJ Newton will also be on campus, marking the third visit for Newton this season. DeMatha (MD) running back Bud Coombs will also make his way back to College Park as the Terps are among the teams recruiting the shifty back the hardest through his junior season. Former ‘25 Penn St verbal Jaelyne Matthews will make it into College Park for the second time this season with the Terps a viable early contender, while ‘24 OL and Michigan State verbal Logan Bennett will visit for the first time this season. Bennett nearly took an official to Maryland back in June before opting to commit to the Spartans, but Maryland has kept tabs on the interior lineman through his senior season with his recruitment certainly not closed. Despite not holding an offer yet, ’25 Calvert Hall edge JT Taggart, son of Ravens RB coach Willie Taggart, will make his way to College Park for the first time this season. ‘25 Flowers (MD) WR Aaron Lewis has been a repeat visitor and will make his way back to College Park on Saturday. Good Counsel (MD) four-star safety ‘25 Faheem Delane is expected to make it in for his third game of the season, as will ‘25 three-star DT Delano Brown. ’25 Matoaca (VA) WR Bryce Yates has been a familiar face in College Park through the years as he’ll return to campus, as mentioned earlier in the week. ’25 SFA LB CJ Smith has been a familiar face on gamedays throughout his high school career as he makes it in for yet another game, while ’25 Community School of Davidson (NC) TE Brandon Hettwer returns for the second time this season. ’25 Sayre (KY) WR Brock Coffman will also unofficially visit for the first time with WR coach Gunter Brewer leading early on. ’26 Bergen Catholic (NJ) DL Jermaine Kinsler is also expected to make it in as CB coach Henry Baker looks to keep the connection alive to the New Jersey powerhouse with DJ Samuels in his first season. Maryland will also welcome the bulk of its 2024 class on campus: WR Mekahi White OLB Trey Reddick RB DeJuan Williams IOL Trevor Szymanski OT Michael Hershey OT Michael McMonigle IOL Ryan Howerton IOL Terez Davis QB Khristian Martin WR Jahmari Powell-Wonson CB Lloyd Irvin LB Keyshawn Flowers DL Keion Flowers SAF Brandon Jacob OL Davon Watkins Related Links Maryland vs. Penn State: TV, radio, betting odds, game preview
