Maryland verbal visiting this weekend with list of schools working a flip

King George (VA) is set to take on Chancellor this weekend with the playoffs right around the corner, and with the Foxes taking a perfect 9-0 record on the road this weekend, three-star wide receiver verbal Mekhai White is confident in his squad as they look to make a deep run and win their first regional championship since 2020.

“I feel great. We’re starting to peak right now and that’s a good thing. I feel great right now, everybody’s healthy,” White told IBG. The Maryland commit was battling a lingering hip injury that nearly had him sidelined earlier this season, but White hasn’t missed a step as he’s added 665 receiving yards and eleven touchdowns on 36 catches.

One day after King George takes on Chancellor, White is set to head to College Park alongside his teammates, include Duke verbal Chanz Wiggins, to watch Maryland take on ninth-ranked Penn State. White has made himself a frequent visitor in College Park already this season, taking in wins over Charlotte and Virginia, as the Terps have stayed consistent since his early August commitment.

“Ain’t nothing changed. I’m still locked in. I am still listening to a couple more schools but as of right now I’m still locked in,” White added. “I talk to coach Brew every day. That’s my dude. We check on each other, see how things are going.”

A big reason for the consistency is that the list of schools monitoring the three-star athlete continues to expand with less than two months until signing day. Michigan, Tennessee, North Carolina, West Virginia, Virginia and Virginia Tech are among the schools staying in contact with the 6-foot-3, 185-pound athlete. “Especially UVA,” White added.

For now, White’s upcoming marks the only visit set in stone but with official visits still available to him heading into signing day, taking visits elsewhere isn’t something he’s ruled out.

“I may take a couple more visits but I’m not really sure yet.”

White is rated a three-star prospect and an 88 overall by On3, sitting as the 14th-best prospect in Virginia.
