Maryland (13-9, 5-6) vs. Rutgers (11-10, 3-7)When & where: Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2024 | 6:30 PM | Xfinity Center TV: BTN--Jason Ross, Jr. (pxp), Shon Morris (analyst) Radio: 105.7 FM (Baltimore) | 980 AM (DC) | SiriusXM channel 383 Betting odds: Maryland - 8 | O/U: 126.5 (DraftKings) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MvIrS4QduCs After falling on the road to Michigan State, 63-54, at the Breslin Center on Saturday afternoon, Maryland basketball is back home where the Terps will look to pick up their second straight home win. Tuesday marks the first of two matchups between Maryland and Rutgers with the Terps scheduled to head to Piscataway on Feb. 25, but head coach Kevin Willard will look for his team to build momentum before then with three of the Terps' next four games in College Park. As for the opponent, it's been a rebuilding year for Rutgers in the eighth season under head coach Steve Pikiell as the Scarlet Knights enter Tuesday just above .500 overall and in the basement of the Big Ten standings. One of those wins came on Saturday as Rutgers won at Michigan, 69-59, after becoming the latest team to stage a second-half comeback in Ann Arbor. Still, the win marked just the second in 2024 as Rutgers looks to pull off its second consecutive win against the Terps. Senior forward Aundre Hyatt leads the way in scoring with 12 points per game, scoring at least nine points in all but three games this season, while senior center Cliff Omoruyi enters the matchup among the top shot blockers in the country. Omoruyi enters Tuesday averaging three blocks per game, the fourth-most in the nation, and has posted at least two blocks in all but five games this season. The star center is a big reason for Rutgers' dominance on defense as they enter Tuesday first nationally in non-steal turnover percentage (11.7%) and top-35 in KenPom in adjusted defensive efficiency, block percentage and effective field goal percentage. Meanwhile, Jahmir Young enters Tuesday just nine points away from becoming the sixth NCAA player since 2006 to score 1,000 points at two different schools during his college career, along with becoming the fifth Maryland player to reach 1,000 points in two seasons. The star guard would become the third-fastest Terp to reach the mark, having played in just 56 games in College Park. Tuesday's game will serve as a Quad Three matchup for Maryland as Rutgers sits 104th in the updated NET rankings. https://open.spotify.com/episode/5UDCxdnlgq3IEcCYq88eU3?si=8635b68edfba49f5 Related Links Maryland draws road game, matchup vs. Seton Hall in NIT projectionsStock report: where 2025 Maryland football recruiting stands (+)Young Terps: two-game win streak ends | ’24 commit | priority recruits in CPNotes on weekend visitors (+)Four-star cornerback connects with new position recruiter during latest visit (+) Maryland basketball now staring at sobering postseason stat
