Maryland has wrapped up its visit with former Wisconsin guard Connor Essegian and with three available scholarships to work with, head coach Kevin Willard is staying active in the transfer portal with another portal guard making his way to campus. Former USF guard Selton Miguel is expected to visit Maryland tomorrow, a source tells IBG. Maryland was among the long list of schools to first reach out to Miguel, a 6-foot-4 point guard with one year of eligibility left, but the Terps have an allure with former Terp, Bruno Fernando, close with the portal target. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L1_WZwNhXpg Louisville, Michigan and Oklahoma are among the long list of schools that are in the mix with Miguel as he goes through the process, but Maryland is the first visit set since departing from South Florida. Miguel has been shifted to 'warm' on the portal board. Miguel announced plans last week to enter both the 2024 NBA Draft and transfer portal after two seasons at USF. “I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to play at South Florida for the past two years and the family I created while being here,” he said on Instagram. “This season helped shape me more than I could have imagined.” Miguel transferred into the program after two seasons at Kansas State. Miguel started in five games in 2023-24 and thrived in the Bulls' rotation, earning Sixth Man of the Year and Most Improved Player honors in the AAC after averaging 14.9 points and three rebounds while shooting 41.4% from the field. Miguel posted 16 games in double-figures and was a key piece in a pair of upsets for the Bulls this season, first with 23 points against Memphis in January before posting a career-high 25 points in the upset against 24th-ranked FAU. Miguel was also named to the AAC Second Team this past season. On3 ranks Selton Miguel as the 51st-best prospect in the transfer portal, as of Sunday. Maryland is also expected to host former UC-San Diego guard Bryce Pope for a visit as Willard looks to infuse the roster with scoring. Related Links
