Maryland will watch the long list of local targets make their way to campus beginning this week, but one local target is already set to visit campus on the first day of spring ball. Paint Branch (MD) edge rusher Yvan Kemajou tells IBG he’s set to unofficially visit College Park on March 26 as the local lineman remains a prime target to know in the trenches. This month’s visit will mark the third trip to campus since the fall for the 6-foot-3, 230-pound defensive end target, first visiting for the Illinois game last fall then returning for the basketball game vs. Michigan State back in January. “I saw the facilities a bit toward the end too, that was my first time. The locker room and game room was really impressive. I’ve seen the indoor field part because I was up there for a camp but that was it,” Kemajou told IBG back in January. Kemajou’s upcoming visit will give him a chance to check out the program from a different lense, while outside linebacker coach James Thomas has led the way thus. Maryland has been consistent since becoming the second Power Five school to offer back in the fall and Indiana became the latest school to offer on Tuesday, joining West Virginia, Virginia Tech, Duke, Pitt and Penn State. Kemajou could be a late summer or fall commitment target. Meanwhile, another local target has a handful of visits already set and another bunch still in the works as Bel Air (MD) safety Julien Horton hits the road later this month. Horton, a 5-foot-11, 160-pound safety, is set to visit Duke on March 23rd, USC on March 30th and Penn State for their spring game next month. Horton also has plans to visit North Carolina on April 6, though that could change to late March when he’s in the area for his Duke visit. Maryland, Minnesota, Syracuse, Pitt and Boston College are the other destinations the local safety is eyeing visits to as he finalizes dates. New cornerbacks coach Aazaar Abdul-Rahim is someone Horton has made himself familiar with since his time at Boston College and that relationship has continued into the spring. “Yeah I’ve been mainly keeping in touch with him. I knew him when he was at Boston College first then when he moved to Maryland we’ve kept up since then,” Horton told IBG. “They see me more as a safety but he’s been good about keeping in touch with me.” Horton has also been able to build his relationship with his position coach dating back to the fall when he visited for the Penn State game. “I went up for a game last fall and met coach Spav. He came up to the school once too so I’ve been able to get to know him a bit. When I get up there I’m sure I’ll get a chance to see him again and meet the head coach.” Neither Yvan Kemajou nor Julien Horton are ranked by On3 heading into the spring. Related Links
