Non-rev report: Maryland men's soccer set for ranked matchup on Senior Night

Men’s Soccer

The stands at Ludwig Field were filled with 5,580 fans who came to support second-ranked Maryland men’s soccer, the largest crowd since 2018. The Terps won 3-2 over 14th-ranked Indiana and continued their hot, unbeaten season.

"Ludwig Field was exactly the way it should be and the way I imagined it would be. I'm so grateful for the community, The Crew and crowd coming out on a late October night. That's one of the biggest crowds we've had this late in the year in a long time,” head coach Sasho Cirovski said.

Maryland got off the one and only goal of the first half early by senior Luca Costabile, his second goal of the season. The Terps allowed the Hoosiers two in the second half, marking the first time this season the Terps let a ranked team score two goals.

With two games left in the season, Maryland 10-0-3 (6-0-2 Big Ten) has its last home game against 14th-ranked Washington on Friday at 7:30 PM.

Women’s soccer

Maryland women’s soccer 6-11-1 (2-8-1 Big Ten) finished the season against Rutgers 0-0 with a draw, their first one of the 2025 season.

Sophomore Faith Luckey secured four saves and has 88 saves in total for the season. The Scarlet Knights created more chances on offense with a total of six shots on goal, while Maryland only had two.

"We definitely are ready to look forward and move forward and continue to keep building, but there's definitely a foundation that was built this year," said head coach Michael Marchiano.

Marchiano ends his first season as head coach for Maryland with a total of six wins for the 2025 season, the most since 2019.

Volleyball

Maryland volleyball was unable to secure a win on the West Coast, with defeats against 22nd-ranked USC and 25th-ranked UCLA, both 3-0. The Terps looked like they had a closer chance at a win against UCLA and were only within three and five points in the second and third sets but couldn’t pass the Bruins.

The Terps, 8-12 (1-9 Big Ten) return home to face 24th-ranked Indiana Friday at 7 PM.

Field Hockey

A goal in overtime by Maia Adamson secured 11th-ranked Maryland field hockey’s win against 17th-ranked Rutgers 1-0, and the team’s fifth win against a ranked team.

"Obviously, I'm super excited as we picked up a top-20 win on the road. As a team, we felt the momentum and that the goal was coming," Adamson said after the game.

Maryland also faced 4th-ranked Virginia, where they fought hard in what looked like an equal matchup until the fourth quarter, when the Cavaliers scored two goals and took the victory.

With one game left in the regular season, Maryland 9-7 (5-3 Big Ten) will finish it off at home against Northeastern on Sunday at 11 AM.
