Maryland men's basketball rolled out the red carpet for Blake (MD) five-star Baba Oladotun for his September official visit, giving him his most in-depth tour of the new and updated facilities with ample time to familiarize himself with first-year head coach Buzz Williams and his staff.
Maryland marked the second official visit in Oladotun's recruitment at the time after the five-star kicked off his official visits with a trip to Virginia Tech. On Thursday, Oladotun released the third episode of his "Road to Greatness" series going behind the scenes on his official visit to College Park.
"This is one of the best arenas, bro," Oladotun said in the episode while walking into the Xfinity Center. Oladotun also highlighted his thoughts after watching Buzz Williams lead his team in practice, along with a trip to the Under Armour Headquarters in Baltimore, enjoying tailgates ahead of football's win vs. Towson and meeting AD Jim Smith.
"A lot of positive energy - you're part of it," Smith told Oladotun.
Oladotun has since completed official visits to Kentucky and Arkansas, two longtime top contenders, while Georgetown served as Maryland's follow up trip as the local five-star gives the regional programs strong consideration. Who hosts Oladotun next for an official visit remains to be seen with the early signing period approaching, but it's been clear that head coach Buzz Williams has remained an active part of the pursuit with Maryland going all-out for the local product.
“That says something about the man, to get people like that to come in and come with you wherever you go shows your leadership and how much you put people first," Oladotun's father told IBG. "Not only that, people that worked with him in the past come join him because they know what to expect. That’s huge. Only Jesus people follow around like that. This guy is amazing. Whatever he’s doing, he puts people first. It’s going to be the love for what he does and the system. Getting people to come with you from the athletic staff to the trainers to the strength person, it’s huge and shows his leadership and how much he loves his people around him. That, for me, that says a lot about Buzz.”
