Guard Shyanne Sellers and Kaylene Smikle were named to the All-Big Ten first team by the media. Coaches and the media named Sellers to the first team, making it Sellers’ third consecutive year earning First-Team honors. The coaches also named Smikle to the second team.
Sellers is averaging 14.6 points per game, 3.9 rebounds, and 4.4 assists per game. She also became the first player in program history to record 1,500 points, 500 rebounds, and 500 assists. With her current free-throw percentage of 82.4%, she is No. 2 in program history.
In 26 out of 29 games, Smikle has scored in double digits, averaging 17.9 points per game. She has also been named Big Ten Player of the Week twice and received Big Ten Player of the Week once.
Despite a season-ending injury, guard Bri McDaniel received an honorable mention honors from the media. In her 17 games this season, she averaged 10.6 points per game.
Guard Sarah Te-Biasu received the Big Ten Sportsmanship Award.
The Terps are the fourth seed for the Big Ten tournament, which will take place at the Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Ind. Their seedings allow them a double-bye. Maryland’s first game will take place Friday, March 7, at approximately 2:30 p.m. and can be streamed on the Big Ten Network.
