Four-star PG Chance Mallory sets commitment date with five finalists, including Maryland

St Anne's-Belfield School (VA) four-star point guard Chance Mallory is set to announce his final commitment among his five final suitors.

Mallory, a 5-foot-9, 170-pound point guard, is down to a final five including Maryland, Virginia, Virginia Tech, Vanderbilt and Tennessee and will make his commitment on Saturday, March 22.

Mallory backed off his initial commitment to Virginia after former head coach Tony Bennett abruptly stepped down from his role, but the ‘Hoos have remained a factor despite no head coach with Mallory visiting the ‘Hoos for a trio of games, including Saturday’s loss vs. Clemson.

Mallory also took official visits to Tennessee and Vanderbilt while the four-star also made his way to College Park for an official visit beginning January 18 which included the Nebraska game. Assistant Greg Manning Jr. has led the Terps’ chase while head coach Kevin Willard has remained an active piece throughout the chase, looking to pair Mallory alongside current Maryland signee and four-star guard, Chris Jeffrey.

“They’re just a great coaching staff. It’s a great program, great people and close to home. They haven’t said anything crazy, just building the relationship but they’ve let me know they support me and have been watching a lot of me,” Mallory previously told IBG.

Mallory is rated a four-star and the nation's 56th-best prospect, according to On3.
