Maryland (16-16, 7-13) vs. Wisconsin (19-12, 11-9)When: 2:30 PM EST TV: Big Ten Network Radio: 105.7 FM | 980 AM | SiriusXM channel 372 Betting odds: Maryland +3.5 | O/U 132.5 (FanDuel) After dominating from start to finish on Wednesday, Maryland is moving on to face Wisconsin on Thursday afternoon. Maryland and Wisconsin have only faced off once this season with the Badgers pulling out a 74-70 win in Madison. The veteran trio--Jahmir Young, Donta Scott and Julian Reese--combined for 50 points on the road while DeShawn Harris-Smith and Jordan Geronimo added another ten points. Wisconsin led by as many as ten points early in the second half before Maryland responded, eventually trimming the deficit to as little as four points with 91 seconds remaining. A three from Max Klesmit and the Badgers capitalizing at the free throw line down the stretch would keep the Terps at bay the rest of the way, despite a three from Jamie Kaiser Jr. cutting the lead to just two with two seconds remaining. The status of Jahari Long is in question after he went down in the final minute of the game in what appeared to be a lower leg injury, testing Maryland's already limited depth. Still, Maryland will look to capitalize against Wisconsin on Thursday after playing its most complete game through conference play--and arguably this season. Maryland jumped out to an 11-0 lead thanks to consecutive threes from Donta Scott, Jamie Kaiser Jr. and DeShawn Harris-Smith before a Julian Reese dunk forced Steve Pikiell to call an early timeout. That didn't rattle Maryland, though, as they dominated Rutgers on both ends of the court as they took a 14-point lead into the locker room at halftime and led by as many as 26 points in the second half. And in a season where Jahmir Young has had to shoulder the load, Maryland saw others step up as Young was one of four to finish in double-figures with Donta Scott (16) leading the way while Julian Reese (12) had an efficient night shooting 6-of-8 from the field. Jamie Kaiser Jr. also added 11 points thanks to three triples. After climbing inside the top ten midway through the season, Wisconsin is just 3-8 since Feb. 1 and lost three of its last four games since the matchup vs. Maryland. The Badgers are led by AJ Storr and his team-leading 16.2 points per game as the guard was named a second-team All-Big Ten selection this week. Tyler Wahl (11.7) and Steven Crowl (10.8) both enter Thursday averaging double-figures while Chucky Hepburn, who was named to the All-Defensive team, sits second in the Big Ten with over two steals per game. Klesmit rounds out the expected starting five for a Badgers team that enters Thursday with the 18th-best adjusted offense in the country, per KenPom. While Maryland will look to thwart Wisconsin's attempt to build positive momentum heading into the rest of the postseason, Wisconsin will also look to find more success in the conference tournament with just a 5-7 in the Big Ten Tournament under head coach Greg Gard. Wisconsin pulled out the win back in 2018 in the lone matchup between the two teams in the Big Ten Tournament after the Badgers broke the tie with 28 seconds to go, pulling out a 79-74 win in Madison Square Garden. Former Maryland guard Kevin Huerter led with 20 points. While the Terps look to pull off a run in the conference tournament, the Badgers will look to improve their postseason standing as ESPN projects Wisconsin as a six-seed in the NCAA Tournament.
