What many expected has now become official as safety Beau Brade told the Baltimore Banner he’s declaring for the 2024 NFL Draft. “I felt like it was my time ... had my four years at Maryland,” he told The Baltimore Banner. “I feel like I did everything I could do to help this program and help build this program, and so I feel like my job here is done and I got to pass it off to the next guy.” Brade became the first Terp to accept his invitation to the Reese’s Senior Bowl where he and offensive lineman DJ Glaze will look to elevate their draft stock even further. After appearing in all five games behind Jordan Mosley as a freshman, Brade was able to get more experience after appearing all but one game in 2021 as he totaled 14 tackles, including four in the Pinstripe Bowl win. Brade never wavered in his intention to suit up in the Music City Bowl vs. Auburn. “I thought about it with my family, talked to some of my friends, some of my teammates, past teammates about it. I just decided like it was what I wanted to do,” Brade said. “I wanted to finish the season out with my guys. I started with some of these guys since four years ago. I want to finish off strong. We played the Rutgers game but I was like I didn’t want to finish off on that. I wanted to have a big one. Playing for my guys.” Once it was time to replace Mosley and Nick Cross along the backline, Brade seamlessly stepped into the starting role and has consistently been one of Maryland’s best defenders. Brade has led the defense in tackles in each of the last two seasons, posting 85 (55 solo) in 2022 then 72 (46 solo) in 2023. After posting a career-high 15 total tackles in the week three win against SMU last season, Brade followed it up with a career-high ten solo tackles against Michigan in what proved to be his final home game. His lone interception this year was also Maryland’s first takeaway of conference play as Brade picked up Noah Kim, setting the offense up for an eventual score. Brade, who was named an honorable mention selection in each of the last two seasons, was an undoubted leader for Maryland as he rose to stardom. He was named to ESPN’s top 50 draft eligible prospects and the second-best draft eligible strong safety by Phil Steele heading into his senior year. Beau Brade will now look to become the fourth former Maryland defensive back to be drafted within the last three years, joining Nick Cross, Deonte Banks and Jakorian Bennett. Brade committed to Maryland over Michigan among his double-digit offers as assistant Brian Williams led the way for the former three-star prospect out of River Hill (MD). Brade became the third Maryland defensive back to declare for the 2024 NFL Draft, joining Tarheeb Still and Ja’Quan Sheppard. Sheppard, who didn’t have eligibility remaining, formally announced plans following Saturday’s bowl win. https://open.spotify.com/episode/765MvYqPCrNOQXreD44YBU?si=Efleyu90T3S4hoyEUZeo7A Related Links
