2026 Calvert Hall (MD) four-star WR Chris Hewitt Jr. is in the midst of his first season of indoor track where the 5-foot-11, 185-pound athlete is competing in the 200-meter and 55-meter and the 4x2. Hewitt Jr., the son of recently extended Baltimore Ravens assistant Chris Hewitt, boasts a 6.63 in the 55-meter and 22.52 in the 200-meter as the four-star athlete decided to track and field to improve his athleticism and burst. Still, Hewitt has watched his already extensive offer list grow in the early stages of the offseason with South Carolina becoming the latest school to join a field that includes Oklahoma, Virginia Tech, Wisconsin, Nebraska, Kansas and Miami (FL) among others. “It’s been good, just meeting new people every week and building relationships with coaches. It’s been good,” Hewitt told IBG. One of the newer schools that Hewitt was able to get to this offseason was Syracuse after assistant Devin Redd made the stop through Towson, MD back in December. “It was cool getting up there, meeting new people, it’s nice,” he added. The four-star also made his way back to College Park for a basketball game, a school he’s plenty familiar with having taken at least five visits to Maryland since the start of his high school career. A big reason the Terps have been able to make themselves a familiar face early is due to the early pursuit from assistant Gunter Brewer, while area recruiter Brian Braswell has made himself a bigger presence in Hewitt’s recruitment since the start of the new year. “I talk to coach Braswell a bit too. He’s a cool guy, chill guy.” With spring practices roughly one month away from kicking off, Hewitt expects to be back on the move which includes a stop back in College Park. “I’m supposed to head down to a bunch of schools in the spring. I’m headed down to Florida State soon. Penn State and all the schools in this area so I’ll be back up at Maryland.” The in-state four-star is set to compete in the NGL 7-on-7 tournament this weekend down in Myrtle Beach where he’ll look to prove himself among the nation’s top athletes. “I just want to compete against people because a lot of the 7-on-7 tournaments have the best kids in the country so it’s just fun to compete against them.” Chris Hewitt Jr. is rated a four-star prospect and a 90 overall by On3.
