Maryland, Ohio State meet in Big Ten cellar dweller matchup

Maryland (13-10, 5-7) vs. Ohio State (13-10, 3-9)When & where: Feb. 10, 2024 | 4:00 PM | Value City Arena TV: FS1 -- Chris Vosters (pxp), Nick Bahe (analyst) Radio: 105.7 FM (Baltimore) | 980 AM (DC) | SiriusXM channel 383 Betting odds: Maryland + 2 | O/U: 131 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lt24OaJmm6M Saturday marks the only matchup featuring a pair of teams struggling through disappointing seasons as Maryland and Ohio State enter the matchup inside the bottom four of the Big Ten standings. Maryland, of course, is coming off a three-point loss at home in a game that featured double-doubles from Julian Reese and Jahmir Young before Rutgers took control of the second-half en route to a 56-53 loss for head coach Kevin Willard. Jahmir Young became the third-fastest Terp to post 1,000 points in two seasons and the sixth player in the NCAA since 2006 to post 1,000 points at two different schools, but the accomplishment meant little to the star guard in a loss. “It’s great to be in a company with those guys, especially being third fastest. It just shows the hard work that I’ve put in, but really cancels out with the so I’m not really worried about it," Young said on Tuesday. "I’m just trying to figure out how we can win some games.” Maryland will need Young to be exceptional on the road once again as he enters Saturday tied for second in program history with three 30-point road games, trailing only Walt Williams. Maryland will look to move to 4-8 away from the Xfinity Center this season as they now look to avoid a three-game slide when they head to Columbus with a chance to move to 3-5 in Quad One games, while Willard is 1-3 vs. Ohio State all-time. As for head coach Chris Holtmann and the Buckeyes, they'll look to put the embarrassment of Tuesday's loss behind them after squandering an 18-point lead at home before Indiana pulled out a 76-73 win. Still, the Buckeyes are led by a host of veterans while Bruce Thornton leads the country in assist-to-turnover ratio (4.22) while Jamison Battle leads the Big Ten in three-point shooting percentage (44.1%).
