After hitting the recruiting trail the last two weekends, Maryland men's basketball's 2026 recruiting board continues to grow by the day, but they'll get one new target on campus in a few weeks while they made the top group for a top-100 prospect in the frontcourt.
Hours after extending an offer to IMG Academy (FL) four-star guard Trey Beamer, Maryland men’s basketball locked in an official visit with the top-100 prospect with plans to arrive beginning Sept.13. Beamer arrives the weekend Maryland football hosts Towson to wrap up its nonconference slate.
Maryland becomes the first of three set visits for Beamer before he heads to Mississippi State beginning Sept. 27 and Florida State beginning Nov. 2.
Beamer becomes the latest backcourt target for head coach Buzz Williams and the staff with several targets in the mix to also visit in the coming weeks. Texas four-star Trent Perry set to arrive next week, four-star guard Ant Brown set to officially visit in mid-October and four-star guard Darius Bivins still including the Terps on his shortlist, though he’s expected to officially visit USF in late September.
Meanwhile, Maryland also made the top group for four-star Latrell Allmond alongside Arizona, Kansas, Indiana, Miami (FL), Michigan State, Oklahoma State, Tennessee and Virginia. Almond, a 6-foot-8 forward out of Petersburg High (VA), has previously taken visits to Oklahoma State, Tennessee and Virginia in addition to an official visit to Indiana and plans to visit Kansas on August 28. Allmond’s relationship with the staff dates back to the summer heading into his sophomore year after Texas A&M became the second offer in his recruitment. Head coach Buzz Williams and his staff picked efforts back up after sitting courtside to watch him two weeks ago.
“Coach Buzz (Williams) offered me back in the eighth grade, when he was at Texas A&M,” he told On3. “They picked things back up with me when they got to Maryland. He likes how hard I play and that I’m positionless and I’m going to make a play anywhere on the court.”
Maryland already has one commitment in the fold in Lufkin (TX) four-star sharpshooter Austin Brown, who shot nearly 55% from three at Peach Jam.
