Baltimore City College (MD) wide receiver Jahmari Powell-Wonson released a top seven on Thursday with Boston College, Charlotte, Liberty, Maryland, Old Dominion, Pitt and Virginia Tech in the mix. The 6-foot-2 wideout took in Maryland’s spring practice last month before visiting Virginia Tech the following week then Pittsburgh. https://twitter.com/Jp0well_/status/1644071328519946243 Maryland jumped into the mix back in February with an offer with wide receiver coach Gunter Brewer and inside linebacker coach Lance Thompson leading the way. “Maryland has been recruiting me for quite a while now. I have a strong relationship with every position coach on the offensive side, so it’s a blessing that I received this offer. I attended an exposure camp last summer and got invited to a private session. We kept in contact since then. Back in early January, they came by my school and ever since then we’ve just been keeping in contact, getting a stronger bond,” Powell-Wonsontold IBG earlier this spring. Aside from recruiting efforts out of SFA, Maryland dipped into the portal this offseason to add veteran receiver and Baltimore native Tyrese Chambers, who once shined at nearby Baltimore Poly. Meanwhile, Maryland added Wharton (FL) three-star running back/slot receiver Terek McCant to its 2024 class last month after becoming the first offensive commit this cycle. Powell-Wonson previously said he’s looking to make his commitment on July 29. As a junior, Powell-Wonson finished with 1,110 all-purpose yards and 13 touchdowns along with 32 catches. Jahmari Powell-Wonson is not yet rated by On3, but is a three-star and an 86 overall by 247Sports. Related Links
