Maryland makes the final four for Blake five-star Baba Oladotun

Less than one week after picking up the third commitment in the 2026 class, Maryland men’s basketball is a finalist for one of the nation’s best prospects and top target this cycle after Blake (MD) five-star Baba Oladotun trimmed down to a final four on Tuesday afternoon.

Oladotun, a 6-foot-10 forward who reclassified from 2027 into the 2026 class, included Maryland alongside Arkansas, Georgetown and Kentucky. Villanova, Tennessee, USC, UCLA and Virginia Tech were among the other schools in the mix while over 40 schools extended offers through his recruitment.

Maryland was the second school to host the five-star prospect on an official visit, one weekend after visiting Virginia Tech, Oladotun’s dad’s alma mater. Head coach Buzz Williams has remained an active part of the Terps’ pursuit from beginning to end with Oladotun rolling back the curtain on his official visit to College Park in his behind the scenes YouTube video on his channel.

Georgetown was the next school to host Oladotun after Maryland before making the trip to visit the longtime SEC contenders in Arkansas and Kentucky where both have prioritized the local forward for much of the last year, first visiting Kentucky beginning Oct. 17 then Arkansas beginning Oct. 25 while Razorbacks head coach John Calipari was at Blake to check on Oladotun hours before releasing his top schools.

With five departing seniors and three commits in the fold in Kaden House, Adama Tambedou and Austin Brown, Oladotun’s dad knows the new Maryland staff has prioritized the local five-star since arriving in April.

“I think Maryland is a viable option. Maryland is always a viable option,” Oladotun’s dad told IBG following the Maryland official visit. “There’s no place like home but we have to make sure we take an opportunity to make sure we look at other places as well. Maryland, we’re taking a look at Maryland. Just like Maryland is looking at us, we’re looking at Maryland, too.”

Oladotun has yet to finalize commitment plans ahead of the early signing period beginning next week, Nov. 12.
