Maryland officially added a new name to its quarterback board on Saturday afternoon after offensive coordinator Josh Gattis connected with West Orange (FL) four-star Trever Jackson. The timing of the offer isn’t a surprise as the 6-foot-3, 190-pound quarterback shined during the Elite 11, finishing fifth in the Pro Day competition while winning the Rail Shot Challenge. “I feel like I did good. I can keep up with the best of the best. it was a great experience, real fun. A lot of great coaches, great information to give out. It was real fun.” It didn’t take long for Maryland’s interest to materialize into an offer. “I had a feeling it was coming. I had Facetimed coming off of the field with one of the Elite 11 coaches.” https://twitter.com/CharlesPower/status/1669197223006191616 Jackson did so in front of four college quarterbacks, including Taulia Tagovailoa. “He was one of the ambassadors so he said he was going to get in contact with me,” Jackson told IBG. “He’s a real cool dude. He’s chill, down to earth so he was teaching me some stuff I can use in high school. It was awesome.” The Terps became the latest school to join the mix with Gattis now after another quarterback who showed traits of being a difference maker to fill Tagovailoa’s shoes. “ said just that I can fit their program. I can bring back what Taulia is giving out. How he’s mobile, can still complete passes, use his arm and his legs. He said I can fill those shoes.” Jackson took his first official visit to Pitt the weekend of June 2 then took an extended unofficial visit to Texas A&M. Plans to officially visit Missouri this weekend have been scrapped, according to Jackson, as he fields new interest coming out of the Elite 11. “I got a lot of contact from new schools from the day I went out to the Elite 11. Michigan State, UCLA hit me up and they were saying they were going through the process with their head coaches so I’m seeing.” Maryland is now working to get Jackson on campus before the dead period as he and his family iron out visit schedules through the weekend. “I still have some other schools that were trying to get me up so I know I can get in. I know I can get two officials from probably tomorrow, Wednesday to the dead period. Two more schools so I’m trying to set those two up.” Jackson threw for nearly 1,600 yards and 16 touchdowns on 59.3% passing, while running for six more scores and averaging nearly six yards per carry. He is rated a four-star prospect and the 17th-best quarterback in the nation. Related Links
