As Maryland approaches June with six commitments in the 2025 cycle, head coach Mike Locksley and the staff will get a chance to begin adding to that starting this weekend with the first group of official visitors heading to campus. Former Oklahoma kicker Gavin Marshall will arrive in College Park on Thursday morning and stay through Friday as Maryland will look to capitalize on the chance to bolster its special teams room. We touched on his status on Wednesday, but Marshall arrives in College Park despite being committed to Vanderbilt as the Terps have an opportunity to change his mind. As Maryland scoured the transfer portal to find potential upgrades to the roster, Marshall's continued interest in Maryland partly stems from his relationship with the staff dating back to his days at IMG Academy. While others, namely Kentucky, have worked to get into the mix, Marshall tells IBG that Maryland is the only school he's hearing out with a chance to change that heading into the weekend. Maryland's lack of scholarship isn't a deterrent to their chances either. On the high school side, Spalding (MD) three-star cornerback Jayden Shipps arrives on campus on Thursday as Maryland gets a chance to roll out the red carpet for one of their longstanding top defensive targets. Maryland's ascension with Shipps began in the fall through multiple unofficial visits during conference play, while the arrival of position coach Aazaar Abdul-Rahim has amplified those chances. While South Carolina has lurked in his recruitment through the spring, Maryland has set the bar in his recruitment and enters the weekend with a chance to lock him down as they look to kick start the local momentum, which will only pick up through June. Shipps also has official visits set up to NC State, Wisconsin and Indiana though the Terps will look to change that by Saturday. The third official visitor is Mervo (MD) three-star wide receiver Justin Devaughn, who has been on the board since the 2025 cycle picked up. While former assistant Gunter Brewer initially led Maryland's pursuit of the Baltimore speedster, it's been a joint effort among Aazaar Abdul-Rahim, Josh Gattis and offensive analyst Derek Kief since then with the Terps steadily rising through the spring. While Devaughn's commitment timeframe is fluid heading into the weekend, Minnesota remains on track to host him next for an official visit beginning June 7 as they've been a top contender in his recruitment throughout. Syracuse and Pitt are battling for an official visit the weekend of June 21 while Virginia Tech is a possible summer visit. Devaughn will also head to outdoor nationals in mid-June after posting an 11.2 in the 100-meters and 14.38 in the 110-meter hurdles with his blend of speed as a 6-foot, 165-pound wideout a big reason why he's been a consistent target for the staff this cycle. With the three targets set to head to campus on Thursday, visits are set to wrap on Saturday as Maryland is set to host their first 7-on-7 tournament of the month with a long list of local schools expected in attendance. Meanwhile, Maryland was expected to host both Good Counsel (MD) four-star safety Faheem Delane and Highland Springs (VA) safety Brennan Johnson for official visits this weekend, but both visits have since been postponed.
