Maryland football stays hot, lands Imhotep OT Jesse Moody over Rutgers

After sitting at six verbal commitments through June, Maryland football has now reeled in its second offensive line commitment in as many days and eleventh overall after Imhotep (Pa.) three-star OT Jesse Moody went public with his decision on Saturday evening.

Moody, a 6-foot-6.5, 341-pound lineman, committed to Maryland over Rutgers with Virginia Tech and Wake Forest also involved through June, while the three-star commit also included Syracuse, Florida State and Tennessee in his top five back on May 25. Kentucky, West Virginia and Duke are among the nearly 20 schools to extend verbal offers.

“I like the coaches,” Moody told IBG about why Maryland won out. “Coach Wrobo is a great dude to talk to. And then coach Tim [Morris], me and him have a really good relationship too. They pitched their goals to me and how they’re going to develop me.”

Moody’s recruitment began heating up after reshaping his frame following his junior season, now standing at 6-foot-6.5, 341 pounds, and cementing himself as a tackle target in the 2026 class. Rutgers entered June as the team to watch in Moody’s recruitment, though Maryland extended an offer back in February of 2024 and began ramping up efforts through the spring with offensive line coach Damian Wroblewski spearheading efforts alongside Morris and OT/TE coach Hal Hunter. Moody and his mom made their way to College Park for an official visit beginning June 12 where Moody's first in-depth look at the program gave the Terps quiet buzz, opting to make Maryland his final visit prior to his decision.

“They made it known that I can be an impact [player] on that team,” he added following his official visit.

Moody also becomes the second commitment out of Imhotep (Pa.) in as many recruiting cycles after signing four-star edge Zahir Mathis to close the 2025 cycle. He becomes the second offensive lineman in Maryland’s 2026 class after IOL Day'jon Moore flipped from Pitt on Friday, along with the 11th overall alongside safety Zahir Cobb, linebacker Kaden Carter, athlete Jianni Davis, tight ends Javonte Williams and Brayden Marko and a quartet of commits out of St. Frances in edge Zion Elee, cornerback Hakim Satterwhite, tight end Damon Hall and safety Khmari Bing.
