Maryland has its second flip commitment of the day with former Purdue and Louisville DL pledge Jamarcus Whyce now in the fold.
Whyce, a 6-foot-3 defensive tackle, took multiple unofficial visits to Maryland before officially visiting campus. His younger brother is also a top-ten prospect in the 2028 class.
Assistant Derek Kief led the way with the Ohio native, who will now head to College Park and enroll in January.
“He’s from Cincinnati so we’re real close,” Whyce previously told IBG. “That’s all I was doing with him, just spending time and talking a lot through the weekend.”
Whyce becomes the latest commitment along the defensive line with five-star Zion Elee now signed alongside former Ohio State DL pledge Cam Brickle and local edge Jianni Davis.
“They were showing me the family side and the hospitality, how they take care of their players. That was the biggest takeaway for me. I was seeing what type of coaches they are outside of the recruits, how they are with their players” he added. “DJ Samuels was my host, too. It was my first time meeting him but he’s a great host.”
Maryland is now up to 16 commitments in the 2026 class with former Virginia pledge Josiah Teasley kicking off the day with a flip.
Jamarcus Whyce is rated a three-star and 88 overall by On3.
