Maryland is still looking for their first commitment in the trenches as head coach Mike Locksley and the staff sit at five pledges in the 2026 class and on Friday, one target officially came off the board with another top target still considering Maryland.
Georgetown Prep (Md.) five-star OT Immanuel Iheanacho excluded the hometown team from his final list with Auburn, LSU, Oregon and Penn State still in the mix. The longtime top target visited Maryland more than any other school in his recruitment and previously named the hometown program as his number one school with plans to officially visit College Park beginning May 29. That would change heading into May as the tide turned quickly after the blue-chip prospect made the cross-country trip to Eugene with his mom, entrenching the Ducks as the clear team to beat in his recruitment heading into official visit season.
While Maryland will look elsewhere to bolster the tackle room in the 2026 cycle with several targets expected to visit next weekend, Maryland did make the top group for another top target with an upcoming visit after Green Run (Va.) four-star OT Thomas Wilder included the Terps in his top four alongside North Carolina, Penn State and Virginia Tech. Assistant Latrell Scott has spearheaded efforts with the 6-foot-6 tackle target dating back to the weeks ahead of Wilder’s junior season, while the four-star is set to get a closer look at the program during his official visit to Maryland beginning June 12.
"I want to learn about how they run things, where will I fall in line at," Wilder told IBG.
Wilder previously set to a commitment date on July 13.
Wilder is rated a composite four-star, though On3 rated the 6-foot-6, 285-pound lineman as a three-star and 87 overall, checking in as the 19th-best prospect in Virginia.
