Maryland football now has its second offensive line commit in the fold after wrapping up the first official visit weekend.
North Shore (TX) interior offensive lineman Abdus Kone has announced his pledge, committing to Maryland over Colorado, Tulsa, UTSA and North Texas.
Kone, a 6-foot-5, 312-pound lineman, is coming off his first visit to Maryland this past weekend after arriving on Wednesday evening. Assistant Zac Spavital spearheaded early efforts before offensive line coach Damian Wroblewski took over the pursuit to build a strong rapport with Kone, who lined up at offensive tackle as a junior while he projects as a guard.
“They’re very high on my list, so just need to see it all for myself. They were the first Big Ten school to offer me and it’s the Big Ten. I want to play in the Big Ten, but I just need to see what the experience will be like. I like the coaches. I talk to coach Wrobo a lot more now. They’re both really good guys and easy to talk to, easy to connect with.”
Kone joins a recruiting class alongside safety Kevin Jackson, offensive lineman Caleb Canty, running back Mekhi Graham, defensive back Levi Babin and wide receiver Davion Vanderbilt.
