Maryland football adds first 2028 commit

One day after adding a late 2026 pledge, Maryland football has now added its first 2028 commit.

Central York (PA) running back Jerome LaRue has kicked off the cycle for head coach Mike Locksley, committing less than one week after picking up an offer.

Larue, a 5-foot-10, 185-pound running back, made the trip to campus two weekends ago while Baylor, Cincinnati, Indiana, UNC and Syracuse are among the other Power Four schools to offer.

Assistant Kyle Schmitt and running backs coach Andre Powell led the way for the Penn. native.

The news comes one day after Maryland added interior offensive lineman Jon Panagou, who opted to reclassify from 2027 into 2026 ahead of enrolling in College Park in June.
