Maryland football has another out-of-state pledge in the 2027 class after Thompson (Al.) wide receiver Mason McClure went public with his decision.
McClure, a 5-foot-10, 183-pound receiver, was in College Park for an official visit this weekend beginning June 19 while the composite three-star receiver also committed to Maryland with verbal offers from Colorado, FIU and Jacksonville State among others. McClure arrived in College Park to camp on Friday morning before picking up the offer, which was then converted into a last-minute addition to the weekend visitor list.
Maryland's newest commit also transferred to Thompson High School for his senior season, the same school that also produced former Maryland quarterback Taulia Tagovailoa. While at Spain Park High School in Alabama, McClure notched 820 receiving yards and nine touchdowns on 46 catches. He's also notched sub-4.5 40 yard dash times during camps through June after the explosive athlete showcase himself as a do-it-all weapon through his junior season.
McClure also becomes the second wide receiver in the class alongside Virginia native and three-star AJ Henderson, while in-state four-star Myles McAfee also completed his official visit to Maryland after also arriving June 19. He also becomes the latest commit who is currently expected to enroll in College Park in January.
