University (FL) cornerback Vernon Woodward already had a busy June schedule set, but after his latest offers, the 6-foot-2, 180-pound defensive back now has a decision to make. Woodward is set to officially visit Wisconsin the first weekend of June, followed by Illinois on the 9th, Cincinnati on the 16th then West Virginia on the 23rd. After that, it's two schools jockeying for Woodward's fifth official visit. "I’m not sure about the last weekend but the rest is locked in," Woodward told IBG. "I’m still thinking about Maryland or Georgia Tech." Both schools offered on Friday after University wrapped up their spring ball, giving outside linebacker coach James Thomas and cornerback coach Henry Baker a chance to watch Woodward in person. "Mostly they like long corners, corners with length and long arms, able to cover. I fit that for him and the program, the recent history they’ve had with the draft and DBs this last draft," Woodward said about Maryland. "It’s also just an overall good school." The Yellow Jackets have also hit the trail aggressively this cycle and there's an appeal about Atlanta to Woodward. "They’re in Atlanta and wherever I go to college, I want to consider the geography of the place. The city wouldn’t be somewhere I’d mind staying. I like the way Georgia Tech runs their defense and I’ve talked to the coaches about how I’ve fit into their defense. It’s away from home, but it’s not too far from home so it’s something to consider." Woodward's eventual official visits to both Cincinnati and Illinois will mark return trips as he gets a closer look at both programs. "More of the coaches and players, spending time with them and seeing who they really are. Really get a feel for them beyond football." Both Wisconsin and West Virginia have been active with Woodward through May as he'll get his first look at both campuses. "It’d be more of the same, just try to get a feel for who I’ll be around if I do go there. Make sure that I’m comfortable being around them and working with them." Woodward is planning to commit "probably some time in August, early August." Related Links
