Maryland tight ends coach Kevin Sumlin was charged and arrested with driving under the influence on Saturday morning, according to a Hillsborough County police report.
Sumlin was arrested shortly after midnight on Saturday and booked at 2:11 AM. Sumlin refused a breathalyzer test, according to the report, and pleaded not guilty. Sumlin was released on bond on Saturday.
The incident took place on Saturday morning as Maryland football was on a bye weekend. A team spokesman has not yet responded in regards to the arrest.
Kevin Sumlin joined the program as co-offensive coordinator and tight ends coach back in February. Maryland returns to action against Northwestern this weekend for a noon kickoff.
