Maryland kicked off spring ball on Tuesday afternoon with a long list of local programs making their way to College Park as Mike Locksley kicks off his sixth season as head coach. While schools like South River, DeMatha and Potomac were in attendance, 2025 Paint Branch (MD) three-star defensive end Yvan Kemajou was back in College Park where he got another look into the program. “It was great. It was nice meeting up with them and sitting down in the meetings,” Kemajou told IBG. “I like the way they go through meetings, talking about what they need to do then they go to practice and really put an emphasis on it.” The local edge rusher spent his day watching the Terps’ defensive ends go through practice before connecting with position coach Brian Williams. “I stayed with the ends and was watching them pretty much the whole time. After practice I was talking with coach . He was saying how he likes my film, I’m twitchy and I move well,” Kemajou added. Kemajou reconfirmed that Maryland is on his shortlist of suitors he’s closely evaluating into the spring as outside linebacker coach James Thomas leads the way as the area recruiter. “It’s a great program, close to home. It’s high on my list. Nice coaches, nice facilities. I have a pretty good idea where they want me,” Kemajou said after his last visit to campus. Now, Maryland continues to check the boxes with the Paint Branch standout after getting a different perspective of the program. “Just seeing how everything works and how they operate, I’m still interested.” With the local target looking to hit the road during his spring break, Kemajou is expected to visit Howard on Wednesday along with a chance he makes his way to Rutgers on Thursday. After that, Kemajou will look to finalize his summer official visit schedule with three trips set in stone—Duke, Virginia Tech and West Virginia. Whether Maryland opts to host the local defensive end target for an official visit during the summer remains to be seen considering Kemajou is looking to take his recruitment deep into the fall. “I’m waiting to commit until the end of my senior year.” Yvan Kemajou is not yet rated by On3, but is rated a three-star prospect by Rivals.
