Maryland makes the top group for priority OL Eidan Buchanan

Maryland has one offensive lineman in the fold after Pennsylvania guard Kahlil Stewart pulled the trigger on his decision, and the Terps are in the top group for another after Good Counsel (MD) three-star offensive tackle Eidan Buchanan released his top five on Tuesday night. Maryland made the cut alongside Kentucky, Rutgers, West Virginia and Wisconsin as the Terps have been in consistent pursuit of the priority target dating back to before his junior season.

After unofficially visiting in late July, the towering 6-foot-8, 335-pound tackle returned to College Park for the Towson game last fall then made his way back to campus for the basketball game against Michigan State back in January. The staff made the trip to Good Counsel with multiple assistants on hand, including head coach Mike Locksley, back in January as outside linebacker coach and area recruiter James Thomas has led the pursuit throughout.

“I talk to coach [James Thomas] the most. He recruits Good Counsel so he’s the guy I feel like I talk to. I have a pretty close relationship with him. He’s a cool guy. I like coach Braswell too. A lot of coaches show you love, but every time I get up there every coach says what’s up. Every coach is welcoming. Feeling like a priority is a good thing,” Buchanan said about his fall visit.

Buchanan is set to officially visit Maryland the weekend of June 14, the same weekend that teammate and priority target Gavin Crawford will check out College Park with the Terps also in the top group in his recruitment heading into April.

Named a second-team All-WCAC selection, Buchanan shined as Good Counsel’s starting left tackle through his junior season as the Falcons went on to finish 10-1 overall and capture the WCAC title after defeating DeMatha, 7-0, in the championship game.

Eidan Buchanan is rated a three-star prospect and an 86 overall by On3, sitting as the 27th-best prospect in Maryland.
