Maryland football has landed its fifth commitment in the 2026 class with St. Albans (DC) three-star safety Zahir cobb going public with his pledge.
Cobb, a 6-foot-2, 185-pound safety, already had an official visit to Maryland set for the weekend of June 12 with Virginia, Virginia Tech, Penn State and South Carolina among the schools in the mix.
“We’re pretty close. Plus having my main recruiter be my position coach, it definitely were to be in my favor,” Cobb previously told IBG. “Usually it’s a running backs coach or something that isn’t my position, so with it being both my position and area recruiter has been really nice. It’s a strong option for me because I’m not far and the treatment I get from the staff, coaches has been really good.”
Shining as a versatile piece in the secondary along with wide receiver, Cobb posted 1,265 all-purpose yards, 16 total touchdowns, five interceptions, one pick-six and 13 pass breakups as a junior.
Zahir Cobb is rated a three-star, 88 overall and the nation’s 710th-best prospect, according to On3. He joins Georgia three-star LB Kaden Carter and St. Frances (Md.) trio Zion Elee, Damon Hall and Khmari Bing.
