How players who departed Maryland football after 2024 season fared in 2025

With a handful of former Terps still in action with postseason not yet complete, we take a look at how the players who departed after the 2024 season fared in 2025:


CB Jonathan Akins (ECU): despite enrolling in January, Akins did not record a stat in 2025.


WR Ezekiel Avit (Fresno State): finished fourth on the team in catches (25) and receiving yards (226) while recording 3+ catches in five games


OT Terez Davis (Ole Miss): zero starts and appeared in four games, including an SEC matchup vs. Florida back on Nov. 15 and the CFP win vs. Tulane over the weekend.


OL Deandre Duffus (Georgia State): appeared in ten games


QB Cam Edge (Eastern Michigan): lost the starting QB battle and did not record a stat in 2025


QB Billy Edwards Jr (Wisconsin): after battling injuries all year in his final season of college football, Edwards played just two games where he finished 7-of-16 for 113 yards


CB Perry Fisher (UAB): in eight games and seven starts including six in the nickel, Fisher posted 21 total tackles and three pass breakups in 2025


LB Dylan Gooden (Sacramento State): missed the 2025 season due to a knee injury


CB Chantz Harley (JMU): appeared in eight games


RB Roman Hemby (Indiana): notched his first 1,000+ rushing season in college with 1,113 yards on 218 attempts in 2025 - averaging 5.1 yards per carry. Matched his 2024 total with six touchdowns.


TE Preston Howard (Auburn): started in seven games and played in all 12, recording ten catches for 84 yards


TE Leron Husbands (Tulane): played in just one game


SAF Brandon Jacob (UTSA): played in just four games and posted a pair of tackles


DL Lavon Johnson (Texas): four tackles and one TFL in six appearances, including two tackles during SEC play


QB Champ Long (NC A&T): appeared in two games and went 8-of-16 passing including an INT vs. UCF


OT Kyle Long (ECU): the senior started seven games at LG in 2025


CB Mykell Morman: despite leaving the football team, the Wise product has remained at Maryland where he’s shifted his career to track and field, now preparing for his second season with the program.


QB MJ Morris (Coastal Carolina):posted four interceptions against zero TDs while completing 56.9% of his passes across his first two games before being demoted; threw two passes vs. App State with one marking his lone touchdown of the season


CB Tayvon Nelson: N/A


WR Josh Richards (Arkansas-Pine Bluff): recorded one catch for eight yards vs. LCLN

OT Andre Roye (Colorado): allowed just one sack in 113 snaps; started in two games at RT and played in nine games in 2025


QB Jayden Sauray: N/A


TE Dylan Wade (UCF): the Florida native led UCF in receiving TDs (5) while finishing second on the team in both catches (43) and receiving yards (523)


IOL Tamarus Walker (UConn): appeared in seven games in 2025 at guard


LB Caleb Wheatland (Auburn): appeared in three games and recorded one tackle vs. Mercer


CB Lionell Whitaker (Coastal Carolina): started one and appeared in ten games, posting a pair of pass deflections and 20 tackles

WR Braeden Wisloski (JMU): playing in every game, Wisloski finished fifth on the team in receiving yards (358) and catches (26) with his four TDs one off from the team lead - tying another former Terp in Nick DeGennaro.


OLB Kellan Wyatt (Indiana): it was a productive first half of the season before suffering a season-ending injury midway through, effectively ending his college career. In seven games, Wyatt posted 27 tackles, eight TFLs - at the time of his injury, ranked among the best in the Big Ten - along with 2.5 sacks. Recorded 1.5 sacks in the road win vs. Oregon
