With the 2025 NBA Summer League wrapping up this weekend, we take a look at how the five Terps fared this month and where they stand heading into the 2025-26 regular season:
Selton Miguel
Miguel’s final outing of summer league proved to be his best after posting 11 points on 4-of-6 shooting, including 3-of-5 from three, in a 105-92 loss vs. Chicago on Friday. Yet Miguel saw limited time, not playing in five of the team’s eight games and no more than five minutes in any of his three appearances with the Jazz.
Derik Queen
Three double-doubles in three appearances for Derik Queen after playing at least 27 minutes in all three appearances. While there was plenty to like, Queen also finished with 15 turnovers in his first and last appearances during Summer League with his eight turnovers vs. Portland marking a team-high. But after three games, the Pelicans shut Queen down in a move that appeared to be based on performance before the franchise announced the former Maryland star would be sidelined at least three months. “The New Orleans Pelicans announced today that forward/center Derik Queen underwent successful surgery to address a torn scapholunate ligament in his left wrist. The surgery was performed this morning by Dr. Steven Shin in Los Angeles, California. Queen sustained the injury during the Pelicans’ Summer League contest against the Portland Trail Blazers on July 15. He will be re-evaluated in approximately 12 weeks,” the team announced on Friday.
Julian Reese
The rookie big saw inconsistent time after not appearing in four games through Summer League, but saw at least eight minutes in all four appearances with the Lakers after averaging three points and 2.5 rebounds on 50% shooting in just under 12 minutes per game. Reese’s biggest performance came on Friday night after adding seven points on 2-of-3 shooting from the field and 3-of-5 from the line, adding four rebounds in a blowout loss vs. Denver.
Donta Scott
After a season in the G League, Scott returned to Golden State’s Summer League team for a second consecutive year after appearing in three games and averaging five points and two rebounds on 33% shooting from the field. Scott played for at least ten minutes in all three appearances, while his best performance of the month came in an 11-point win vs. Cleveland as Scott posted seven points on 2-of-6 shooting, including 1-of-5 from three, and a pair of rebounds in 20 minutes.
Jahmir Young
The most productive former Terp of Summer League on the floor appeared to be Young, who averaged 13.0 points, 1.8 rebounds and 4.2 assists per game, while shooting 52.3% from the floor and 53.3% from three-point range in five games. That included Young setting a Bulls’ Summer League record with 40 40 points on 13-of-18 shooting and 7-of-8 from three, three assists, two steals and one rebound across 33 minutes in Wednesday's 102-96 Summer League win over Milwaukee. But after wrapping up their July slate, the Bulls made the surprising announcement to waive Young in order to sign point guard Yuki Kawamura, who averaged 9.6 points, 2.4 rebounds, 6.6 assists and 2.2 steals in nearly 24 minutes in five appearances, to a two-way contract.
