The next domino in Maryland men's basketball's 2026-27 non-conference schedule dropped on Thursday morning after Georgetown released their full schedule, cementing a date for year two of the matchup.
The two teams are set to meet on Saturday, Nov. 7 at Capital One Arena in Washington DC, though TV and tipoff time have yet to be announced.
It marks an early season revenge game for head coach Buzz Williams after watching his team fall by ten in the first marquee game to open his tenure with the program. It proved to be a sign of what was to come as Maryland's 12-win season ranked the worst in program history, but the staff turned to veteran experience in the portal to turn that around after adding DJ Wagner (Arkansas), Bishop Boswell (Tennessee) and Tomislav Buljan (New Mexico) among several others.
Georgetown will also enter the season with a different look with both Malik Mack and KJ Lewis gone, though they signed one-time Maryland target and former Kansas guard Elmarko Jackson to anchor the backcourt in 2026-27. Former College of Charleston center Chot Machot transferred into the program where he now becomes a centerpiece in the frontcourt as head coach Ed Cooley restocked his depth with similar veteran experience, while also tapping into the international market after signing Brazilian guard Pedro Pastre.
Maryland is also set to face South Carolina in Baltimore, the second straight year the program has played in Charm City. Maryland is also set to face Tennessee in the opening matchup of the Players Era 16-team tournament while Virginia heads to College Park on Friday, Nov. 13.
With dates yet to be announced, the Big Ten previously announced Maryland will play home-and-home series with Indiana, Michigan State, and Rutgers. The Terps will also host Illinois, Minnesota, Nebraska, Northwestern, UCLA, USC, and Wisconsin at home only.
The road-only slate for league play will include Iowa, Michigan, Ohio State, Oregon, Penn State, Purdue, and Washington.
