St. Frances (MD) four-star cornerback Blake Woodby made the long-awaited change in his recruitment official on Friday after parting ways with Ohio State seven months after his initial pledge. Now, the 5-foot-10, 180-pound cornerback is looking to take his time with his next steps. “I don’t know when I’ll narrow it down but I want to take my time with it. I’m just taking my time, seeing my next steps,” Woodby told IBG. Woodby made his first trip to Athens on Saturday with Georgia in the picture, and the defensive staff's pedigree has his full attention. “It was good. The coaches understand how to win. The new defensive staff has been places and they were successful where they were. Coach Smart is a defensive minded coach. Good coaching, I like what they’re doing.” His next trip will be an official visit to Auburn the weekend of May 31 after the Tigers have ramped up their pursuit over the last month. Cincinnati is also in line to host the Baltimore product, while Maryland is set to officially host Woodby the weekend of June 21. “I’ve been to Maryland so many times so now it’s about just looking to see how they’re going to develop me and get me to the next step.” Woodby has made himself a frequent visitor in College Park over the last five months largely due to his comfortable relationship with lead recruiter Aazaar Abdul-Rahim, while the signing of teammate and close friend “Kerm” Humes has given Woodby another reason to make his way back to campus. “I talked to Aazaar all the time. He was my second offer in eighth grade so I talk to him frequently. Coach Justin was at Maryland and they were real close so I got a good relationship with him,” he previously told IBG. “He came down here to watch some good ball, just seeing us move. But not even just talking football, he’s a good person at the end of the day so keeping in contact with him is good.” With no imminent timeframe in his decision, Woodby is keeping fall official visits on the table with a set official visit to Oregon the weekend of Nov. 30 for their home game vs. Washington. Blake Woodby is rated a four-star prospect and a 90 overall by On3, checking in as seventh-best prospect in Maryland.
