St. John’s (DC) four-star cornerback Tariq Hayer is no stranger to College Park having visited for multiple home games over the last two years, but the top target returned to College Park for an unofficial visit on Sunday alongside his parents to get another look at the hometown program. The biggest difference about Sunday’s trip compared to past visits was the chance for Hayer and his parents to spend time with his new position recruiter, Aazaar Abdul-Rahim. “It was just me and Aazaar just hanging out with each other. He’s a cool guy for sure. He keeps it real with you,” Hayer told IBG. Brian Williams has led the way with the 5-foot-11, 180-pound cornerback through the fall as Abdul-Rahim now bolsters the Terps’ recruiting efforts, and Hayer got a chance to see him and head coach Mike Locksley on Sunday. “We just said what’s up with each other but they do a good job keeping up,” Hayer added. Hayer admitted that contact with the Terps has only increased since the coaching change with Maryland a familiar school in the early stages of his recruitment. “I know him pretty well by now but I still learn something new every time,” he said. Maryland has been a consistent contender for Hayer, who nearly made his commitment back on Christmas Day before opting to postpone. He has no set visits while Wisconsin, Penn State and Notre Dame are among the suitors involved with Hayer. Tariq Hayer is rated a four-star prospect and a 93 overall by On3, along with being ranked the top prospect in D.C. and the nation’s fifth-best cornerback. Related Links
