Former assistant set to return to College Park, face Maryland in 2023-24

Maryland basketball’s 2023-24 schedule is nearly finalized with another matchup now set, this time with a familiar face returning to College Park. Maryland will host Nicholls State on December 19, according to Rocco Miller. The mid-December matchup will reunite a pair of faces with Tevon Saddler, Maryland’s former director of player personnel, now the head coach at Nicholls State in his first head coaching opportunity. https://twitter.com/RoccoMiller8/status/1675873239099142144 Nichols became the third Maryland assistant to leave for a head coaching opportunity after returning to his alma mater for his second coaching stint, first serving as the director of basketball operations prior to becoming an assistant at McNeese State then joining the Terps’ program. Nicholls State finished 16-15 (11-7) last season before Austin Claunch left his position as head coach to join Nate Oats’ staff as an assistant at Alabama. Maryland basketball will depart for its international trip set to begin on July 31 in Italy in a ten-day tour featuring four exhibition games. Maryland is also expected to host Coppin State on December 28, a road game against UCLA, a return to the Gavitt Games with a road game against Villanova and the Ashville Championship featuring a field with Clemson, Davidson and UAB. Though dates have not yet been set, the Big Ten has already announced that Maryland will host Michigan, Nebraska and Purdue while traveling to Minnesota, Ohio State and Wisconsin next season. Maryland will also have a home-and-away with Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan State, Northwestern, Penn State and Rutgers. Maryland will open the regular season on November 7 against Mount St. Mary’s. Related Links
