Former Maryland wide receiver DJ Moore may have been considered one of the most underappreciated wide receivers through his first six seasons in the NFL, but the Chicago Bears made history on Tuesday night after agreeing to a four-year, $110-million extension with $82.6-million guaranteed, per ESPN's Adam Schefter. Not only does Moore's extension mark the largest deal in Bears franchise history, but makes Moore the first wide receiver in NFL history to have the first ten years of his contract guaranteed. Following the 2022 season, Moore was part of a trade package from Carolina that included multiple draft picks, including the pick that produced former Washington star Rome Odunze, in exchange for the top pick in the 2023 NFL Draft as the Panthers eyed their quarterback of the future in Bryce Young. In his first season with the franchise, Moore teamed up with Justin Fields to post a career-high 1,364 receiving yards in 2023, marking the fourth time in the last five seasons that Moore eclipsed 1,000 receiving yards. His eight touchdowns and 96 receptions also marked career-highs for the former first-round pick in the 2018 NFL Draft. DJ Moore is part of a revamped offense in Chicago with rookie quarterback and DMV native Caleb Williams now under center, while the Bears acquired veteran wide receiver Keenan Allen and drafted Odunze to restock the wide receiver room. Despite Moore becoming the seventh-highest-paid wide receiver in the league, the former Maryland star has yet to make an appearance in the 2024 NFL Top 100. Former Maryland wide receiver Stefon Diggs, who is getting adjusted with quarterback CJ Stroud in Houston, did make an appearance at 56th overall earlier this month. "Diggs’ final year in Buffalo involved much discussion of off-field drama, but when he’s on the field one cannot deny his impressive ability to produce year after year. Diggs recorded his sixth consecutive season with 1,000-plus receiving yards, having hit the benchmark in each of his four years as a Bill, and tacked on eight touchdowns. His time in Buffalo might be over, but Houston is receiving a player still putting up WR1 numbers entering his 10th year in the league." Related Links
