A local crew of visitors were at Maryland on Wednesday when quarterback verbal Jayden Sauray, three-star cornerback Mansoor Delane, three-star safety Kevin “KJ” Winston, linebacker verbal Kellan Wyatt, and three-star athlete Lavain Scruggs made their way onto campus. For Winston, the DeMatha safety will return to College Park for an official visit the weekend of June 18 but Wednesday gave him an opportunity to reacquaint himself with the Terps’ coaching staff.
“It was great. The new facilities look amazing,” Winston told Inside the Black and Gold. “It was nice finally getting to see and talk to all the coaches in person.” The crew had the chance to tour through College Park before they took in a photoshoot in the Maryland uniform, but Winston had his favorite part.
“I really liked the meeting rooms. One cool thing about it was that there was a door that opened up straight to the practice fields from the meeting room.”
Winston also got a chance to talk with cornerback coach Henry Baker and co-defensive coordinator Brian Stewart during the visit but had some one-on-one time with Baker. “He showed me how he coaches and his way of doing things. He also sat down with me and allowed me to ask any questions I wanted to ask.”
Winston took in an official visit to Michigan State over the weekend and will head to Penn State this weekend. Following his official visit to Maryland, Winston will head to Notre Dame the weekend of June 25 while keeping his fifth official open.
Winston is rated a three-star prospect and an 88 overall by 247Sports, sitting as the seventh-best prospect in Maryland.
