Decision day arrives for Highland Springs QB Khristian Martin

Decision day has arrived for Highland Springs (VA) three-star quarterback Khristian Martin as he’s set to announce his decision at 5:30 PM this evening. https://twitter.com/KhrisMartin2024/status/1682811877028503553?ref_src=twsrc%5Egoogle%7Ctwcamp%5Eserp%7Ctwgr%5Etweet Martin, a 6-foot-2.5, 200-pound quarterback, took a pair of official visits to Maryland and Virginia in June while Texas A&M and Virginia Tech were involved heading into the summer. Maryland’s pursuit for the three-star quarterback began last summer with assistant Gunter Brewer and former assistant Dan Enos leading the charge, watching Martin in action in the midst of his undefeated junior season, before current assistants Latrell Scott and Josh Gattis picked up his recruitment. Maryland has made Virginia a priority since Locksley took over the program and Scott’s addition has given the Terps’ ammo in their pursuit. Maryland already has three-star edge rusher Anthony Reddick in the fold and will hope for more good news from both Martin and wide receiver Mekhai White heading into the fall. Martin initially visited Virginia the weekend of June 9 before making his way to Maryland the weekend of June 23 where the Terps’ scheme and NFL talent developed by Gattis and Locksley left a big impression. “Coach Gattis has had monstrous success in his offenses. Coach Locksley has coached multiple successful quarterbacks, so I mean, that speaks for itself when you have multiple quarterbacks that have played under you who have gone on to play at the next level, which is something I’d ultimately like to do,” Martin said following his official visit. “It shows that obviously, you’re doing something right because you’re putting guys at the next level. Their word speaks for itself.” As a junior, Martin threw for nearly 2,400 yards and 30 touchdowns to just one interception while completing over 60% of his passes. Martin was also able to show off his dual-threat ability, rushing for 773 yards and 13 touchdowns on 95 carries en route to a state title. Martin went on to be named co-All Metro Player of the Year, while the rising junior also carries a 4.0 GPA heading into his senior season. Khristian Martin is rated a three-star prospect and an 84 overall by On3, sitting as the 38th-best prospect in Virginia and the 101st-best quarterback in the 2024 class. Related Links
