Chris Durr on noise surrounding Maryland football: "I don't want my coach to leave"

Maryland football is in the midst of another losing streak, yet the question is whether it proves to be fatal for the Mike Locksley era.

Locksley has become synonymous with the hot seat watch list across college football since the week three loss against Virginia Tech, and Maryland has come up winless in Big Ten play after being outscored 102-26 over the last two games.

Maryland now faces their most daunting opponent next with the fifth-ranked Ohio State up next in Columbus, tasked with stopping Jeremiah Smith after notching 200 receiving yards -- in two consecutive games. Smith also opened the season with over 150 yards against both Ball State and then fourth-ranked Texas.

The Big Ten already announced details for Maryland football's homecoming game with Rutgers arriving in College Park for a 12:30 PM kickoff on BTN, but the growing noise surrounding the state of year eight of the Mike Locksley era has only grown with each lose. The players, meanwhile, are trying to avoid the noise.

"It's just staying in-house, staying in JHH, being where our feet are. Just being there for our coach. He's our leader. We always look to him to help us going into these games, going into practice. I don't want my coach to leave. I know we're gonna do what we can to make sure he stays," wide receiver Chris Durr Jr. said.

Safety Lavain Scruggs is looking to help right the ship for Maryland football for the third consecutive season, hoping that another losing streak doesn't end with a spiraling season. Yet Scruggs pushed back when asked if any changes to the day-to-day structure have been implemented, instead responding to IBG's question by noting "our season isn't over."

"A loss, we learn from those. Like Nebraska, there was a lot of good things on film. A lot of good things. And then we learn from those. We looked at it all. Nothing has changed in the locker room. We're more hungry to play the next game."

Locksley opened his press conference by admitting that "obviously the last three weeks isn't good enough," though whether Maryland is able to flip the script over the next two weeks is the question.

Kickoff is set for 4 PM between Maryland and Ohio State this weekend.
