Details for Maryland football's homecoming game vs. Rutgers announced
Details for Maryland football's homecoming game have officially been announced.
Maryland will host Rutgers for a 12:30 PM kickoff on BTN.
Maryland will enter the meeting looking to snap a two-game losing streak against the Scarlet Knights, including a 35-20 loss in Piscataway one season ago as the Scarlet Knights outscored the Terps, 14-3, in the second half.
Rutgers find themselves in hot water like Maryland after entering week six with a 1-4 record, fresh off a 47-15 loss against seventh-ranked Indiana. Rutgers also opened the season in humiliating fashion as UMass secured a 37-21 win in the season opener, marking UMass' first Power Four win since 2012 after ending a 16-game losing streak. Rutgers' lone win came after a 58-7 win over Howard to close the September slate, though whether the Scarlet Knights make a change in 2026 has also been a debate through the first month of the regular season.
Similar could be said about Maryland given the ongoing uncertainty surrounding Mike Locksley's status as head coach in year eight. Athletic director Jim Smith has faced growing criticism for doubling down on Maryland's deflating losses over the last three weeks as the university stares at a third consecutive lost football season. Yet with the bye week looming after the homecoming matchup, the expectation remains it is a matter of when, not if, the university opts to make a coaching change.
