Maryland men’s basketball has its third commitment in the fold after Compass Prep (AZ) four-star Kaden House announced his commitment on Friday afternoon, becoming the first top-50 pledge for head coach Buzz Williams since arriving in College Park.
House, a 6-foot-3, 170-pound shooting guard, committed to Maryland with St. Johns, Vanderbilt and TCU involved with Maryland up first back on Sept. 13 for what proved to be a monster recruiting weekend with five-star Baba Oladotun on campus the same weekend, along with Boston College pledge Trey Beamer and Vanderbilt pledge Jackson Sheffield.
Over his last two seasons, House averaged 25.1 points, 8.5 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 3.4 steals per game while also averaging 18.7 points at Peach Jam. With High Major Pro on the summer circuit, House averaged just shy of 20 points, 6.1 rebounds, 3.6 assists and two steals per game.
“Kaden House is an electric scorer, able to put a lot on the board in a hurry,” On3 wrote last month. “He had a quick spurt this one as well, ringing off 10-15 points in a couple minutes span. He also had a massive dunk in the first half. Finding consistency for four quarters is next, but in his time of being on, he can stack some stats.”
House is also son of longtime former NBA guard Eddie House while his older brother, Jaelen House, plays for New Mexico and his younger brother, 2026 four-star Kalek House, is currently committed to Xavier. House also becomes the first commitment in the backcourt this cycle with Maryland set to lose Kansas transfer Diggy Coit to graduation following the 2025-26 season.
House becomes the first backcourt commitment of the offseason, joining Putnam Science (CT) four-star forward Adama Tambedou and Lufkin (TX) three-star wing Austin Brown, who served as head coach Buzz Williams’ first of three commitments in the 2026 class. Meanwhile, Maryland remains a top contender for local five-star Baba Oladotun with head coach Buzz Williams an active part of the Terps’ all-out pursuit since the Blake standout officially reclassified from 2027 into 2026.
“That says something about the man, to get people like that to come in and come with you wherever you go shows your leadership and how much you put people first," Oladotun's father told IBG. "Not only that, people that worked with him in the past come join him because they know what to expect. That’s huge. Only Jesus people follow around like that. This guy is amazing. Whatever he’s doing, he puts people first. It’s going to be the love for what he does and the system. Getting people to come with you from the athletic staff to the trainers to the strength person, it’s huge and shows his leadership and how much he loves his people around him. That, for me, that says a lot about Buzz.”
