Big Ten releases 2025-26 conference schedule for Maryland men's, women's basketball

The Big Ten has officially released the conference schedule for Maryland men’s and women’s basketball for the 2025-26 season.

For the men, they’ll open Big Ten play on the road against Iowa on Dec. 6 before hosting Michigan on Dec. 13., one week before Maryland also travels to face Virginia in the first of a four-year series. Maryland will also face UCLA, USC, Illinois and Michigan State on the road in January while hosting Indiana on Jan. 7 and Penn State on Jan. 18. Maryland is set to close out its road slate against Wisconsin on March 4 before wrapping up the regular season vs. Illinois on March 8.

Maryland previously announced that head coach Buzz Williams will open the season with an exhibition matchup against UMBC (Oct. 27) before opening the regular season against Coppin State on Nov. 3 in Baltimore. Maryland will also face UNLV and Gonzaga in the Players Era Men’s Championship Tournament, host Georgetown and travel to both Marquette and Virginia before wrapping up non-conference play against Old Dominion on Dec. 28.

For the women, they’ll open Big Ten play at Minnesota on Dec. 7 before hosting Wisconsin on Dec. 29, ten days after Maryland wraps up nonconference play. Maryland will pair consecutive games out west against USC and UCLA on Jan. 15 and 18 before returning home for two weeks to host Iowa, Washington and Oregon. Maryland will hit the road in three of their first four games in February to face Michigan State, Nebraska and Ohio State with a home game against Penn State set for Feb. 12 in the middle of the 11-day stretch. Maryland will close out the home slate against Northwestern on Feb. 25 before closing Big Ten play against Michigan on Feb.28.

head coach Brenda Frese will face NC State (Oct. 26) and Point Park (Oct. 30) in a pair of exhibition games while the non-conference schedule features a Nov. 9 home game vs. Georgetown and a neutral site matchup vs. Kentucky in the Discover Puerto Rico Classic beginning Nov. 26.
