Alabama WR Kobe Prentice Commits to Maryland

Calera (AL) three-star wide receiver Kobe Prentice has announced his commitment to Maryland, three days after telling the staff his intentions following his official visit.

Prentice committed to Maryland over offers from Arizona State, Coastal Carolina, Kansas State, Mississippi State, and Washington State among others.

“I had liked it before I got up there but when I came, it made it even better so I didn’t even think about it,” Prentice told Inside the Black and Gold after the visit. “The players and the coaches. Their starting quarterback came out of Alabama and he had a lot of good things to say about the program. It had to be true.”

Maryland first saw Prentice back on June 6 when the staff was in attendance for the Florida State mega camp, where the 5-foot-10, 171-pound slot receiver flashed his speed before drawing a verbal offer. Tight ends coach Mike Miller has led the charge for Maryland’s pursuit as the staff hosted him over the weekend for an official visit.

“It’s pretty tight,” Prentice said of his relationship with Miller. “We talk like every other day, always staying in contact so I like that. I’ve noticed so far that he’s just a cool guy.” Prentice gives the Terps a speedy inside receiver as he ran a 10.81-second 100-meter dash during track this year.

“They like my speed and how I can create separation on my routes,” Prentice said last week. “They text me about every day.” The Alabam wideout was already familiar with the program playing nearby Thompson High School, where Maryland quarterback Taulia Tagovailoa suited up prior to college, but Prentice was able to draw his own impression of his staff as contact increased.

Maryland also holds a commitment from Wilson (NJ) three-star Amari Clark as a receiver and picked up Lincoln (FL) three-star athlete Perry Fisher over the weekend.

Maryland holds the 34th-best class nationally according to the 247Sports team composite rankings.
